The Murals of Mural Mania
"The Preservation of History through Community Art"
Mural Mania started in Lyons, N.Y. in 2007 as an idea to increase tourism in our Erie Canal village. Our first first Winston’s Dream was installed during Clean Sweep in April of 2007. We dedicated the our first mural on June 14, 2007. There were 250 people in attendance including the entire elementary at Lyons, N.Y. The excitement of that day lead other communities to jump on band wagon and at the end of 2008 we had 50 miles of murals in every community along this section of the Erie Canal. By the end of 2010 there were 75 miles of murals from Macedon to Syracuse. Because of the success of Mural Mania in 2016 we hosted the Global Mural Conference. This success has lead to the Seaway Mural trail and over 30 murals in Wayne County. Everyday more and more communities are reaching out to us on how they can add murals to their communities.
